USA, Canada & Australia: New Local Government Twitter Lists

I’ve recently decided to try my hand at compiling a list like the one created by @barryearnshaw and Glenn Taggart with @uklocalcouncils for the USA and Canada . @b3rn from the Stap isi website (Local government, the internet & community engagement online) has also done the same for Australia, @OZGovLocal and also one for Australia Councillors twitter stream @OZGovLocalClrs (similar to @CllrTweeps here in the UK) around the same time I created @USALocalGov and @CanadaLocalGov. This is a little experiment to test my theory on whether or not lists like this can help the increase in local gov twitter accounts.

Twitterplan: The Newest Mashup in UK Local Government

I managed to catch up with Stuart Harrision/Pezholio this morning from Lichfield District Council to ask him about his new exciting development/mashup called Twitterplan. You can listen to the telephone interview here.

Just in case you wondering who else is working on some exciting mashups, have a look at Warwickshire Councils R&D website. They’re working on some interesting projects with me in the near future. You could find their Web Services and API Dump here. Look out for a post featuring their projects here on LGEOResearch soon.

The future of research?

Over the weekend, there were some interesting tweets and I thought there was one particular tweet by @stephendale that was worth blogging about. It was a link to the various comic strips about twitter which I found hilariously funny yet hold some truth to them. However that’s only my opinion, you be the judge! :) Enjoy.
